Kyle Edmund won the maiden ATP Tour title of his career in Antwerp a couple of years ago but has opted to stay and compete in the second leg of ATP Cologne this week. He suffered a disappointing straight-set defeat at the hands of Lloyd Harris in the first round here last week, which was his third consecutive defeat on the main tour. Former world #14 Kyle Edmund must be disappointed with his performances since the restart especially considering he gained some momentum during the break by winning nine matches from 11 outings, including against the likes of Andy Murray and Cameron Norrie. The close straight-set defeat against Lloyd Harris last week also ended the former Brit #1 Kyle Edmund’s five-match winning streak on indoor hardcourt on the main tour. Earlier this season, he defeated the likes of Miomir Kecmanovic and Andreas Seppi to lift the second ATP Tour title of his career in New York (IH).

Yoshihito Nishioka rested for a couple of weeks after losing out to the talented Hugo Gaston in four sets in the second round of the French Open last month and returns to action in Cologne this week. The left-handed Japanese’s form since the restart isn’t good enough as he has lost five of his seven matches. He even got bageled twice in this period by Guido Pella in Kitzbuhel and Grigor Dimitrov in Rome Masters.
