It was the left-handed Japanese’s first-ever win in Paris Masters as his debut campaign here in 2019 ended in the first round against Jan Lennard Struff in three sets. He has played four matches in this tournament so far (two in the qualifying stages last year), and all those four matches have gone the distance.
