Waalwijk vs. Heracles – Prediction (Eredivisie – 02.11.2019)

Saturday’s Eredivisie action gets underway with a clash between seemingly doomed RKC Waalwijk and play-off chasing Heracles, in a repeat of a thrilling 4-3 cup contest on Wednesday night won by Heracles. A far cry from the heroics of 2018/19, Waalwijk are the only side yet to register a league win this season (D1, L10) – their sole point also came against fellow promoted opposition. Saïd Bakari has been involved with Waalwijk’s only league goals across their last 308 minutes of play (one goal, one assist). Unsurprisingly, given their record, Waalwijk boast the leakiest defence in the Eredivisie (3.0 conceded per match average) coupled with the worst strike-rate (0.91). Interestingly though, Waalwijk have led at half-time in four of 11 matches, but have gone on to drop more points after leading at the break than any other Eredivisie side (11).

Waalwijk are amongst the worst disciplined Eredivisie sides, averaging 2.0 bookings per match. Thirteen of Waalwijk’s 33 conceded league goals were scored after the 75th minute (39.39%). Three of Heracles’ five league wins came via at least a two-goal margin. Heracles have won at both half-time/full-time in five of their last seven league matches.

In contrast, Heracles have won five of their last seven league matches, scoring at least twice in each victory. This will be Heracles’ first away game this season in which they are betting favourites, and they lost only one such match last term (W3, D1, L1). Heracles’ Mauro Júnior scored in both halves of their away victory over Twente, and contributed to a 4-0 victory last time out. Having already beaten promoted Twente this season (3-2), Heracles will look to further improve their away record against promoted sides, which saw them win in only one such clash last term, against the relegated Graafschap no less. Heracles’ last four away league games vs promoted opposition have averaged a considerable 3.25 goals per match.
