Taro Daniel comfortably dispatched Zdenek Kolar and Martin Klizan in straight sets in the qualifying stages of ATP Sofia over the last two days to confirm his main draw berth on debut appearance, 6-4 6-3 and 6-3 6-4, respectively. The Japanese went through a four-match losing streak a few weeks ago, but he is currently on a six-match winning run, which includes a title-winning campaign on the indoor hard courts in Hamburg Challenger last week. Former world #64 Taro Daniel will now look to register his first main draw win on the main tour since defeating the wildcard entrant Sasi Kumar Mukund in the first round of ATP Pune back in February.

Aslan Karatsev made a super comeback from 5-6* against the big-serving Marc Andrea Huesler in the first set of his final qualifying round match on Sunday to secure a straight-set win as well as a place in the main draw, 7-6 6-4. The 27-year-old Russian recently made his way through to the qualifying stages of the inaugural edition of Nur Sultan a couple of weeks ago but suffered a disappointing three-set defeat at the hands of the struggling Andreas Seppi in the first round. Regardless, Aslan Karatsev would be quite content with his performance and results since the restart. After producing some strange results in the US Pro Series exhibition event during the tour suspension, the Russian delivered consistent results on Challenger circuits, including an 11-match winning streak and two title-winning campaigns in Prague Challenger and Ostrava Challenger.
