The veteran Australian failed against the Spaniard Guillermo Garcia Lopez in the first round of his only previous outing on indoor hardcourt this year (on the main tour) — in New York. However, he did well in Kaohsiung challenger (IH) last month where he won the 19th lower-level title of his career, dropping only one set in the process. Their H2H is tied at 1-1 and notably, both of those matches concluded in straight sets. Though the Spaniard lacks experience on indoor hardcourt, he is favored to get the win here, considering their form in recent months.
