Novak Djokovic vs. Grigor Dimitrov – Prediction (ATP Paris – 02.11.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

Though Grigor Dimitrov’s best tennis is capable of troubling the top players, Novak Djokovic holds an unassailable 9-1 lead in the H2H series (including exhibition), and he is expected to get his tenth win in this matchup.

Novak Djokovic produced his best performance of the week and one of his best performances of the season to register a crushing straight-set win over the world #7 and in-form Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal. Djokovic lost to the Greek in the quarterfinal of Shanghai Masters a couple of weeks ago but raised his game and dropped only three games this time around, 6-1 6-2.

“I played one of the best matches of the season. I prepared myself very well for this match. I lost to Stefanos about three weeks ago in Shanghai. And obviously, I went through the videos [to better] understand what I did well, what I didn’t do so well, what I can do better,” said Novak Djokovic.

World #1 Novak Djokovic, who becomes the first player to complete career Golden Masters in Cincinnati last year, hasn’t reached the finals of an ATP Masters 1000 event since Rome Masters and could win only one title at this level in these ten months (Madrid).
The Serbian is a four-time champion of Paris Masters and has got a perfect 5-0 record in the semifinal of this tournament with the recent such win coming against Roger Federer in three sets last year. Novak Djokovic’s reign at the top of ATP World Rankings for nearly a year is coming to an end next Monday. However, he’s still got some job do to this week as he will have to stop his rival Rafael Nadal from winning the Paris Masters title to have any chances of finishing the season as the year-end #1.

Grigor Dimitrov followed up his straight-set wins over David Goffin and Dominic Thiem with yet another straight-set win over Christian Garin in the quarterfinal on Friday, 6-2 7-5. This is the best the Bulgarian has played all season. Former world #3 Grigor Dimitrov will return to the top 20 of ATP World Rankings next Monday, thanks to his semifinal runs in the US Open and Paris Masters this week, which has pretty much saved Dimitrov’s 2019 season. The match on Saturday will be Grigor Dimitrov’s first semifinal appearance in an ATP Masters 1000 event since losing to then-world #1 Rafael Nadal in straight sets in Monte Carlo last year. He is yet to play a semifinal match in ATP Tour events this season.
