Adrian Mannarino continues his revival on the main tour as he had yet another good campaign last week in Paris Masters, where he defeated Dusan Lajovic and Yoshihito Nishioka before playing out a superb three-setter against the eventual runner-up Alexander Zverev in the round of 16. The left-handed Frenchman went through a five-match losing streak between the US Open and St.Petersburg but has done well to win at least two matches in each of the previous three tournaments that he entered, which earned him a runner-up finish in Nur Sultan and a quarterfinal appearance in Cologne. Adrian Mannarino is a former quarterfinalist of ATP Sofia, and his alternate campaigns here ended in the first round — recently lost to Yannick Maden in the first round of the 2019 edition.

Martin Klizan got outplayed by Taro Daniel in the final qualifying round on Sunday but will enter the main draw of ATP Sofia as a lucky loser. Earlier in this campaign, he got the better of Max Purcell in straight sets in QR1. The dangerous but inconsistent Martin Klizan recently posted his best result of the season and gained some momentum in Istanbul Challenger last week, where he defeated the likes of Borna Gojo and Mackenzie McDonald before losing out to Ilya Ivashka in the championship match. Martin Klizan reached at least the quarterfinal in three of his previous four appearances in Sofia and has got a perfect 4-0 record in the first round matches here. However, he will have to work hard to keep that record intact as he is yet to score a main draw win on the main tour this year.
