Jan Lennard Struff vs. Yoshihito Nishioka – Prediction (ATP – 28.10.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

Jan Lennard Struff posted his career-best result on the main tour in Auckland (SF) this January and later attained his career-high ranking of #33, but he is struggling to win matches in the second half of the season, having lost ten of his last 18 matches. These two players have never met before and both of them would probably he content with the draw as they will see this as a winnable match and an excellent opportunity to register a rare main draw win at this level.

Yoshihito Nishioka fought back from a set down against Feliciano Lopez and recovered from a break deficit against Andreas Seppi in the deciding set to move into the main draw of Paris Masters on his debut appearance, 6-7 6-3 6-2 and 6-3 3-6 7-5, respectively. The left-handed Japanese was competing on the Challenger circuits in the final few weeks of the 2018 season but will now make his fourth main draw appearance in Masters 1000 events this year. His most recent main draw campaign at this level came in Cincinnati Masters, where he won five matches as a qualifier to reach the quarterfinal.

Jan Lennard Struff ended his poor run of form by progressing to the quarterfinal in Basel last week, defeating Miomir Kecmanovic and Henri Laaksonen. It was his first quarterfinal appearance on the main tour since Stuttgart in June. The 29-year-old German makes his sixth consecutive appearance in Paris Masters as he looks to register only his third main draw win in this tournament. Jan Lennard Struff’s previous two main draw wins here in Paris came against Ilya Marchenko and Stan Wawrinka in the first round and second round of 2016 edition, respectively.
