Soon Woo Kwon registered an impressive comeback win over Richard Gasquet to move to the second round of ATP Antwerp on his debut appearance. The South Korean got outplayed in the first set and exchanged three breaks of serve in the second set before controlling the deciding set and sealing the win, 1-6 6-3 6-4. ATP Antwerp debutant, Soon Woo Kwon will take a lot of confidence from this performance as the Frenchman is a fine player on indoor hardcourt and has won over 100 matches and lifted seven titles on the surface so far in his career. The talented South Korean managed to bag 20 wins on indoor hardcourts in 2018 and 2017, but the win against Richard Gasquet on Tuesday was only his first success on the main tour (on IH).

The 21-year-old Soon Woo Kwon made his mark in the main draw at this level by defeating Prajnesh Gunneswaran in the first round of ATP Atlanta a couple of months ago and later posted his career-best result by progressing to the quarterfinal in Los Cabos, where he lost to none other than Guido Pella in three sets. Guido Pella made the most of Peter Gojowczyk’s recent struggles to deliver a three-set win in the first round of ATP Antwerp. It wasn’t an easy outing as the German won the first set and offered a lot of resistance in the deciding set as well, 5-7 6-4 7-6. This is already a successful campaign for the Argentinian considering his previous two campaigns in this Belgian indoor hardcourt tournament ended in the first round in 2017 and 2018. Moreover, he was winless in four matches before entering ATP Antwerp.
