Filip Krajinovic (Srb) vs. Yoshihito Nishioka (Jpn) – Result prediction (18.10.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

The pair once met in the semifinal of Vicenza challenger (C) back in 2014 when Filip Krajinovic fought back from a set down to prevail in three sets. Regardless, there isn’t much between these two, and anyone could win this evenly poised quarterfinal clash.

Taylor Fritz had an opportunity to serve for the first set (at 5-3), but Yoshihito Nishioka turned things around by winning six consecutive games and went onto secure the win in straight sets in the second round of ATP Stockholm, 7-5 6-4. ATP Stockholm debutant, Yoshihito Nishioka will make only his career’s second quarterfinal appearance on indoor hardcourt (on the main tour) this Friday. He previously made to this stage of ATP Memphis in 2016 (as a qualifier) but failed in straight sets against Sam Querrey. The left-handed Japanese lost both of his previous quarterfinal matches on the main tour this year in Sydney and Cincinnati Masters. In fact, he had to pull out of his recent quarterfinal match against David Goffin in Cincinnati, which was his seventh retirement since the start of 2018 season.

Filip Krajinovic couldn’t register a main draw win in Stockholm in his previous two appearances and was winless in three matches on tour before this week, but he is now in the quarterfinal of this edition — defeated Casper Ruud and Dan Evans in the first and second round, respectively. The runner-up of Paris Masters 2017, Filip Krajinovic has gone 1-3 in the quarterfinal of ATP Tour events so far in 2019 with two of those losses coming on indoor hardcourt against Tomas Berdych in Montpellier and Lucas Pouille in Metz last month.
