Dudelange vs. Qarabag – Score prediction (03.10.2019)

Overview.

This will be the third competitive meeting between F91 Dudelange and FK Qarabag, with the two sides previously meeting in the 2016-17 Champions League qualifiers – FK Qarabag progressing 3-1 on aggregate. FK Qarabag have now lost eight of their last nine Europa League matches – though their only victory in this run did come away from home last season – beating Vorskla Poltava 1-0 thanks to an Araz Abdullayev penalty. Having lost five and drawn one of their six Europa League matches last season, F91 Dudelange recorded their first ever European victory last time out at APOEL (excluding qualifiers), scoring two late goals to turn a 2-3 deficit into a 4-3 win. FK Qarabag were one of five sides to muster just one shot on target in their opening Europa League fixture this season, alongside Oleksandria, Lugano, Rosenborg and Istanbul Basaksehir – only Trabzonspor and Astana managed fewer. F91 Dudelange’s Danel Sinani scored two and assisted one of his sides four goals in their win at APOEL on MD1, already two more goal involvements than he managed in his full Europa League campaign last season (six appearances, one goal, no assists).

Teams Comparison.

A 4-3 victory at APOEL on matchday one proved once again that 15-time Luxembourg champions Dudelange shouldn’t be underestimated, and considering they’re unbeaten in their last five European home matches (which includes a goalless draw with Real Betis), it wouldn’t be a shock if the continental minnows went one better than the 1-1 draw versus Qarabağ in the only previous H2H held here. As seen with that APOEL result, Dudelange are usually an entertaining watch, and have seen both teams score in their last seven competitive home games, with five of those featuring over 3.5 goals (within 90 minutes). However, they have never won, or scored, at home in the Europa League (EL) group stage.

Qarabağ conceded three second-half goals in a defeat to Sevilla on matchday one, in what was the fifth European match in their last six that ended with over 2.5 goals (W3, L3). Whilst a dominant start to their domestic campaign has seen them win all six games so far, leading at half-time in four, and conceding just once, they have lost two-thirds of their previous EL group stage away matches (W3, D1, L8). However, having scored in their previous six competitive away games, netting at least twice in the last three, the seven-time Azerbaijani champions have the right to be confident.
