David Goffin vs. Grigor Dimitrov – Prediction (ATP Paris – 30.10.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

Though Grigor Dimitrov holds an unassailable 11-1 lead in the H2H series, there isn’t much between these two at the moment and expect both of these players to have equal chances in this particular meeting.

David Goffin did the hard work and fought his way back into the top 20 of ATP World Rankings after posting some strong results in the second half of 2019 but lost the momentum in recent weeks after failing in the second round of ATP Antwerp (R1 bye) and Basel. The top-ranked Belgian has got a 3-1 record in the second round of Paris Masters with two of those wins coming against players with one-handed backhand — Dusan Lajovic in 2015 and Nicolas Mahut in 2016. David Goffin, who suffered an eye injury in Rotterdam (IH) last year which seems to have impacted his performance for a long time, has got a terrible 3/6 record on indoor hardcourt this year. In fact, four of his six campaigns on the surface in these ten months have ended without a win.

Grigor Dimitrov needed three sets to overcome the wildcard entrant and in-form Ugo Humbert in the first round of Paris Masters on Tuesday, 4-6 6-1 6-2. The Bulgarian will now look to register back-to-back main draw wins in ATP Tour events for the first time since Monte Carlo Masters. Former world #3 Grigor Dimitrov failed in the second round of Paris Masters during his debut campaign back in 2012 but managed to reach the round of 16 in six consecutive appearances between 2013-2018.
