Daniil Medvedev vs. Jeremy Chardy – Prediction (ATP Paris – 29.10.2019)

Medvedev vs Chardy – Preview and players comparison.

Daniil Medvedev (Russia) secured a hard-fought straight-set win when the pair met in Rotterdam (IH) earlier this year, but he is favored to deliver a more comfortable win in Paris this Tuesday.

After winning the biggest title of his career in Shanghai Masters earlier this month (without dropping a set), Daniil Medvedev rightly pulled out of ATP Moscow, rested for a couple of weeks, and returns to the action in Paris this week. Daniil Medvedev is undoubtedly the most in-form player on tour at the moment, and he has reached at least the finals in all his previous six tournaments — champion in Shanghai Masters, St.Petersburg, and Cincinnati Masters and runner-up in the US Open, Montreal Masters and Washington.

The top-ranked Russian will now look to continue his excellent winning run and make an impact in Paris, where he made his main draw debut in 2018 and reached the second round — defeated Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round and lost to Borna Coric in the second. Despite not winning a slam, Daniil Medvedev has made a lot of headlines already this year and winning any one of the next two big events of the season (Paris Masters and ATP World Tour Finals) will most likely secure him the Most Improved Player of the Season award — the award won by his rival Stefanos Tsitsipas in 2018.

After scrapping his way past compatriot Corentin Moutet in the final qualifying round on Sunday, Jeremy Chardy (France) needed a similar comeback effort to overcome Sam Querrey in the first round on Monday, 5-7 6-3 7-5. The big-serving Frenchman has played five second-round matches in Paris so far in his career and failed to progress further even once — recently lost to Roberto Bautista Agut in the second round of 2017 edition.
