Vasek Pospisil registered back-to-back main draw wins for the first time this season by defeating Diego Schwartzman and Joao Sousa in the first and second round of Shanghai Masters. Including his solid wins over Adrian Mannarino and Marcel Granollers in the qualifying stages, the Canadian has won four matches so far in this campaign, and impressively, he did not drop a set in any of those matches.

The last and only time Vasek Pospisil managed to clear the second round hurdle in Shanghai was in 2016 when he won four matches as a qualifier before putting in a valiant effort against Novak Djokovic in the round of 16 (4-6 4-6). Since returning from the lengthy injury break, Vasek Pospisil has put in a lot of hard work and delivered some encouraging results on tour, such as defeating former Russian #1 Karen Khachanov in the US Open. The Canadian’s best tennis is capable of troubling Daniil Medvedev, and the Russian needs to be at the top of his game to keep his winning streak alive.
