H2H: CFR Cluj vs Celtic – Prediction (Europa League

With no chance of catching Celtic in top spot, CFR Cluj lost their last UEFA Europa League (UEL) fixture, as well as their last domestic match. Losing both games by a one-goal margin, the ‘Railwaymen’ were held 1-1 by Celtic here in August, but lost 2-0 in the reverse of this fixture. Armed with an eight-game home win streak in all competitions, Cluj have six straight home clean sheets to their name, including a 1-0 win in their last UEL home game. Speaking of which, just two of their last six European home matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
A 1-0 cup win over domestic rivals Rangers sealed a 12-game winning run for Scottish champions Celtic. They’ve now won four UEL games on the trot, although their last three such matches saw both teams score.

Unbeaten in their last six European awaydays, Celtic have scored in both halves in four of those matches, and should be confident here considering they’ve won their last five games away from Parkhead. Scoring 15 goals across those matches, the ‘Bhoys’ also conceded just four goals during that period.

Players to watch: Billel Omrani has seven European goals this season, while Ciprian Ioan Deac scored in Cluj’s 4-3 H2H win in August and has three goals in Europe this season. Odsonne Edouard has bagged nine domestic goals and four goals in Europe this term – he has scored in two straight H2Hs and netted first in the reverse.

Stat attack: The last three H2Hs each produced over 8.5 corners and four or more cautions. Cluj have conceded first in three of six European home matches this season (all first-half goals). All five of Celtic’s European away goals conceded this season were scored before half-time.
