Camila Giorgi won her career’s second and latest WTA title at Upper Austria Ladies Linz in 2018, dropping just one set across five matches and defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final. The Italian unfortunately could not defend her title last year after picking up a renewed wrist injury concern a few days prior in Wuhan. Giorgi has competed in Linz five times, clearing its first round in all but one instance. She had a decent record in the tournament even before 2018, given this was the venue of her career’s second WTA final appearance in 2014 (l. Ka. Pliskova). In fact, five out of her eight tour-level finals have come on indoor hard courts alone.

It has been an excellent two months for Sara Sorribes Tormo. In September, she picked up her biggest professional title at W80 Cagnes-Sur-Mer, claiming all five matches in straight sets on clay. Last month, she entered her maiden Premier quarterfinal at Ostrava after starting that indoor hard court event in the qualifyings. During that Czech outing, Sorribes Tormo stunned eighth seed and world no. 22 Anett Kontaveit to register her maiden top 30 victory on hard courts, overcoming 11 previous unsuccessful attempts. She even came awfully close to her maiden WTA hard-court semifinal but lost to Sabalenka from a 6-0, 4-0 lead (l. 0-6, 6-4, 6-0).
