Overview.
Last season, Beşiktaş’ home record in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) proper (pre-group playoff round and group stage) was a very mixed bag (W2, L2). Three of those matches produced over 2.5 goals, with the two wins both falling into that category. Following their 4-2 defeat at Slovan Bratislava on matchday one, Beşiktaş have now lost four of their last six UEL group stage games. However, there have been plenty of twists in defeat, with 50% of those losses seeing an own-goal and a penalty account for successive match goals (either way).
Wolves’ away matches also appear to guarantee some unexpected developments. The three UEL qualification away legs they played averaged 1.0 own-goal (either way) per-match, and the latter two games in that run saw the last match goal (of over 3.5) come via the penalty spot in the final ten minutes of play. More recently though, low scoring has become a theme in games featuring Wolves. Indeed, their group stage opener yielded a 1-0 defeat to Braga, marking their fourth successive game in all competitions to produce under 2.5 goals.
