Benoit Paire vs. Damir Dzumhur – Prediction (ATP Paris – 28.10.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

Benoit Paire is by far the better player of these two, and his performance and motivation levels will play a significant role in deciding the outcome of this contest.

This is Dzumhur’s third consecutive main draw appearance on the main tour as a qualifier. He recently made his way through the qualifying stages of ATP Moscow and Vienna but failed in the first round against Adrian Mannarino (France) and Grigor Dimitrov, respectively. Making his main draw debut in Paris Masters last year, Damir Dzumhur defeated Peter Gojowczyk and Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach the round of 16. Since then, he has secured only one main draw win in Masters 1000 events — against Christopher Eubanks in Miami Open.

Benoit Paire’s excellent 2019 season seems to have ended a bit early as he has won only one of his last five matches on tour, which came against the struggling Marco Cecchinato in Shanghai Masters. On Monday, the mercurial Frenchman will look to avoid his fourth consecutive first-round exit from Paris Masters. He has competed here every year since 2010 but could register only two main draw wins — against Pablo Andujar in 2012 and Gael Monfils in 2015. Despite the recent poor form, Benoit Paire probably won’t have any regrets as he posted some surprisingly consistent results in the first half by bagging nearly 30 wins and two titles in Lyon and Marrakech.
Damir Dzumhur overcame a tough test against Ricardas Berankis on Sunday to get into the main draw of Paris Masters, 6-3 3-6 7-6. With this result, the Bosnian took his season w/l tally into the positive zone (32/31).
