In an intriguing Group J clash, both teams will look to get their Europa League (EL) campaign back on track after receiving 4-0 thumpings at the hands of Roma and Wolfsberger AC respectively, with that margin of defeat the joint-second heaviest during the first round of EL fixtures. Borussia Mönchengladbach are in fine form domestically having won three consecutive Bundesliga matches. They have also won all three Bundesliga road trips so far, scoring an average of 2.33 goals per fixture, with the last two victories coming ‘to nil’. In fact Gladbach secured a victory ‘to nil’ in their only previous trip to Istanbul when they defeated Fenerbahçe in 2012/13. Favourites to win here, and with a win-rate of 71.43% as an away favourite in the Bundesliga since the beginning of 2018/19, Gladbach may believe they can repeat that result.
