H2H: Valencia vs. Sevilla – Prediction (La Liga

Valencia will aspire to halt a three-game winless run (D2, L1 – in all competitions), especially as they haven’t gone four without a win since October 2018. However, they’ll take encouragement knowing that they have lost just four La Liga (LL) home matches since the start of 2018. With Rodrigo suspended, Valencia will look to Kévin Gameiro for goals, although he hasn’t scored in four career appearances versus Sevilla. Head coach Albert Celades must improve Valencia’s defensive record having achieved only three clean sheets from their previous 19 LL contests. Additionally, both teams have scored in seven of their past nine LL home games, and multiple goals appear needed to win based on the fact that Valencia have scored at least two in 54 of their last 60 home LL victories.

Sevilla are winless in the last five H2Hs, and haven’t won away at Valencia since 2012. Twenty of Sevilla’s previous 31 away LL goals came in the second half (64.52%). Valencia have failed to win eight of the last nine LL games when conceding first.

Sevilla are in excellent shape after winning their last three competitive matches without conceding – eight of their previous nine wins overall have now come ‘to nil’. A danger in attack, they’ve scored in 18 of their previous 24 LL fixtures, and last experienced a goalless league draw back in November 2018. Joan Jordán netted the winner in Sevilla’s last two LL away victories (both 1-0). ‘Los Palanganas’ have experienced seven of their ten LL clashes this season end with under 2.5 goals, but their last two away finished with over 3.5. Whilst Sevilla have led at half-time in three of their five away in the league this term, just three of their last 15 LL away games have surprisingly featured both teams scoring.
