H2H: Strasbourg vs. Nimes – Prediction (Ligue 1

Preview and Teams Comparison.

Strasbourg have lost only two of their last 14 games against Nîmes in Ligue 1 (W7 D5), with those defeats coming in September 1980 (2-4) and November 2018 (0-1).

Although just one point off bottom spot, don’t be fooled by Strasbourg’s lowly position – they’re a force to be reckoned with at home having won their last three Ligue 1 (L1) games here, each by a one-goal margin. Now they will push for four top-flight home wins in a row for the first time since November 2002. All three of Adrien Thomasson’s (STR) L1 goals this term have come at home – two were match openers netted before the 30th minute. Although ‘Le Racing’ have seen a modest average of 2.17 total goals per L1 home fixture, they are yet to see a goalless first half at home this season, with five of their six home league games 1-0 at the break (HT: W3, L2). Notably, there was also a 1-0 scoreline at half-time in two of the last three H2Hs (HT: W1, L1).

Four of Strasbourg’s last five L1 games produced under 1.5 goals. Both teams have scored in the second half in three of the last four H2Hs. Nîmes are unbeaten when scoring first this league campaign (W2, D1).

Rock-bottom Nîmes remain winless away from home this L1 campaign (D4, L2), having netted just 0.67 goals on average per road trip. Yet to score in the first 30 minutes of a L1 away fixture this term, Nîmes do appear to get better offensively as the game draws on, netting three of their four away league goals in the final half-hour. Kévin Denkey scored Nîmes’ last L1 away goal – all three of his league strikes have come after the 70th minute. Whilst Nîmes’ last three L1 wins have come ‘to nil’, so have four of their previous six top-flight defeats. Therefore it should come as no surprise that only two of their previous nine competitive games featured both teams scoring.
