However, they’ll look to start well here considering they’ve won the last five matches in which they scored first, although that still might not help them much considering their winless record against German opposition in European competition (D3, L6). The hosts remain in with a shout of progression, but really need a positive result here, however they’ve struggled across their previous 11 UEL proper home matches (W3, D2, L6). Although five wins from their last seven competitive home games will be a morale booster (D1, L1).

Hoffenheim Insights.

It all seemed too easy for Hoffenheim in the reverse fixture as they thrashed Liberec 5-0 in what was their biggest ever European victory, making it three wins from three in this group, all of which produced a 2+ goal margin, and saw Hoffenheim net twice after the 60th minute. Yet despite that, Hoffenheim’s win versus Gent last month was their first-ever away victory in Europe (W1, D3, L4). The visitors just have to avoid defeat here to guarantee football in spring, but have a tendency to foster some end-to-end games on the road, with all six competitive away matches they’ve played this season witnessing both teams score. Just one of those saw a goalless first half, whilst the opener was netted by the fifth minute in three!
