Slavia Prague vs Inter – Prediction (Champions League – 27.11.2019)

Preview and Teams Comparison.

This is the second European meeting between Slavia Prague and Inter Milan, with the other the 1-1 draw on MD1 of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

An impressive goalless draw with Barcelona in Slavia Prague’s last UEFA Champions League (UCL) outing has helped the Czech champions patch together a run of six consecutive clean sheets in all competitions (W3, D3 – 90 minutes only). However don’t expect another draw here – there hasn’t been one in the last 17 games at this venue (W15, L2). Having said that, the reverse fixture with Internazionale ended in a 1-1 stalemate after the Italians netted an injury-time goal, beginning a trend that has seen Slavia concede the last match goal in three of their four UCL group stage games. However if the hosts manage to go one better and claim victory expect a solid defensive performance – nine of Slavia’s last ten competitive home wins came ‘to nil’.

Inter travel here knowing defeat would see them slip to the bottom of Group F, after already losing both UCL away games so far, despite scoring the opener within five minutes in each. In fact the Italian heavyweights have now opened the scoring in eight of their nine competitive away games this season, despite both teams scoring in seven. Whilst the visitors won seven of those nine road trips (L2), they will be wary after half-time considering 91.67% of the away goals they’ve conceded this season came in the second half. Perhaps unsurprisingly then, Inter are yet to concede a goal before half-time (home/away) this UCL campaign (HT: W3, D1).

Players to watch: Petr Ševčík has scored in Slavia’s last two home wins – both goals were netted after the 75th minute. Lautaro Martínez has scored the opener in five of Inter’s last six away games.

Stat attack: There’s been a penalty in four of Slavia’s last six home games. The opener has been scored by the 15th minute in four of Inter’s last six away games. Ten of Inter’s last 11 fixtures produced over 2.5 goals.
