Sheffield United have lost two and won one at home so far, but in a reflection of the true Yorkshire grit running through the side, all of those results have been decided by a single-goal margin. They are masters in first-half containment at Bramall Lane, with 80% of the goals scored either way here coming in the second half. Indeed, most of United’s matches so far have been closely fought, and just two of their six Premier League (PL) matches so far have featured three goals or more. Both draws this season have been comebacks after conceding first, while both wins have been founded on scoring the first goal.
The home side’s slow starting mode is a big contrast to visiting Liverpool. Currently on a 15-match winning run in the PL, Jürgen Klopp’s men have scored the first goal in all PL matches save one so far. Furthermore, they have been ahead at half-time in all league matches this term. Additionally, the ‘Reds’ are on a current 12-match winning streak in the PL against newly promoted sides. Eleven of those were won with at least a two-goal margin, and eight were victories ‘to nil’. In nine of those wins, Liverpool were completely dominant, leading at half-time and scoring in both halves.
