Teams Comparison.
Top seeds of this group, and even fancied to take maximum points from it, Sevilla have five wins from their previous seven UEFA Europa League (UEL) group stage matches. In a sequence spanning back to the start of last season. Three of those wins came on home turf, all yielding a winning margin of 3+ goals. Unsurprisingly, all of those victories also saw them win both halves, each additionally yielding a penalty goal. Two of those victories also saw Sevilla win the second half precisely by a 3-0 scoreline, but remarkably, none of those group stage home wins saw them score a goal beyond the 75th minute.
Sevilla’s excellent home form in this competition since April 2014 (W19, D3) comes as bad news to APOEL. Matchday one saw them gain the ‘accolade’ of being Luxembourg outfit F91 Dudelange’s first group stage scalp, throwing away a 3-2 lead to lose 3-4. Despite winning seven of their last eight domestic league games, APOEL are expected to lose again, and the fact remains that they have won just one UEL group stage away game since the start of 2013/14 (W1, D1, L7) is significant.
