Seattle Sounders continued their perfect record of reaching the conference semi-finals in all 11 seasons and now face a Real Salt Lake (RSL) side who have won in Seattle just once since the beginning of 2012. Jordan Morris (SEA) hit peak form with a play-offs hat-trick – the fifth of his last nine club/country appearances in which he scored. The hosts are now unbeaten in six MLS fixtures (W3, D3 exc. ET) at home despite having conceded at least two goals in four of those six matches. The 3-3 90-minute result with Dallas was the first occasion this MLS season in which Seattle failed to ‘win’ after leading at half-time (W10, D1).

RSL have not advanced beyond the conference semi-finals since 2013, and have reached these play-offs off the back of a very strong home record. Subsequently their 18.75% win rate as an away outsider (W3, D4, L9) offers little inspiration, but points from four of their last six regular season road games (W2, D2, L2) will be a confidence booster as they look to record their second win in 13 visits to Seattle (W1, D3, L8).
