Team Scotland.

It’s not been pretty, but Scotland continue to grind out results and find themselves heading towards promotion to League A of the UEFA Nations League (UNL) after a promising start to this campaign (W2, D1), which has extended their unbeaten run in competitive action to seven matches. The hosts haven’t lost a competitive home match to a team ranked outside FIFA’s top 25 – such as the Czech Republic (#45) – since October 2005. Yet they start as outsiders here, a worry considering they’ve lost their last five home fixtures (including friendlies) in which they began as underdogs, conceding before HT each time (HT: D1, L4). Grabbing the first goal could help though, as since the start of 2017, Scotland are unbeaten in eight of the nine competitive home games in which they’ve scored the opener (W7, D1, L1).

Team Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic’s last three games have been won 2-1 by the away side on the day, a run that started in the previous H2H as Scotland beat an understrength Czech squad. The visitors will be itching for revenge here and could pose an early danger after scoring the opener within 15 minutes in all three of those matches. With three wins from their last four competitive away games, and having taken more corner kicks than their opponents on the day in all four as well, the Czech Republic will be no pushovers either. However, the first goal could decide this game as nine of their last ten competitive away matches saw the team that scored first go on to win.
