H2H: Reims vs Lorient – Prediction (Ligue 1

Preview and Teams Comparison.

El Bilal Touré has scored two of Reims’ only three goals across their last eight domestic home games. He also bagged for Mali whilst on international duty. Lorient’s Pierre-Yves Hamel has either scored or received a booking in four of his last five club appearances (two goals, two yellow cards). He has contributed to two of their three away goals (one assist). Lorient manager Cristophe Pélissier is unbeaten in all prior H2Hs with Reims (W2, D2). All four games saw both teams score (3.5 average total goals per-game).

Reims Insights.

One of two sides yet to record a victory ahead of round seven, Stade de Reims are experiencing a worse six-game start than any of their last six top-flight campaigns (D2, L4). They scored the opener within 15 minutes of both draws though shipped first in all defeats. Worryingly, Reims are currently nine points worse off than their last relegation campaign (2015/16), but have not recorded three consecutive home league defeats since their promotion for the 2018/19 campaign. However, the fact remains that Reims have not scored in 233 minutes of play here.

Lorient Insights.

In decline since their 3-1 opening day victory, FC Lorient have returned a worse points total than at this stage of six of their last seven top-flight campaigns. However, this is not at the cost of entertainment, as Lorient’s games have averaged a league-high 3.67 total goals per-game so far. Five of those six games also saw both teams score. Lorient have also conceded in both halves in all of their away league games. Subsequently, they begin as outsiders once again, and look to overturn their 100% loss record as such in away games this term after a three-year hiatus from Ligue 1.
