H2H: Real Sociedad vs. Levante – Prediction (La Liga

Real Sociedad’s strongest top-flight season this decade has seen them win three of their four La Liga (LL) home games, with all three victories coming by at least a two-goal margin. Notably though, their last two home fixtures have seen the team that scored first, go on to lose (W1, L1). One of six Sociedad players to find the back of the net in the last four rounds, Portu has recorded the game’s final goal in two of his last four LL starts. There could be action aplenty here considering Sociedad’s last three home games produced over 2.5 goals, something that has also occurred in three of Levante’s last four LL road trips (W1, L3).

Sociedad have won four of five matches as a favourite this LL season (L1), whilst Levante lament the opposite as an outsider (W1, L4). Four of the previous six H2Hs produced over 2.5 goals. The away side on the day has failed to record a first-half goal in the last four H2Hs. Referee Mario Melero López is yet to award a penalty or red card in his five LL assignments.

The visitors will travel here hoping for a solid end to the first half, as the last 15 minutes before half-time has been their weakest 15-minute period this season, recording a -3 goal difference. Curiously, that also happens to be Sociedad’s strongest time period, registering a +4 goal difference themselves. Despite averaging four saves per game, goalkeeper Aitor Fernández (LEV) has maintained only two clean sheets this LL season. Levante’s travelling form offers little inspiration (D1, L4), despite being level at the break in three of their four away losses. Even when scoring first, as they have done in four LL games this term (home/away), wins have still been hard to come by (W2, D1, L1).
