Poland vs. Slovenia – Prediction (EURO Qualification – 19.11.2019)

Preview and Teams Comparison.

North Macedonia’s disappointing European Championship qualification (ECQ) form has improved lately, with two of their three ECQ wins this With a place at Euro 2020 already assured, Poland’s only objective is to try and extend their winning streak to four games in Group G. They may not be the highest-scorers in the group, but defensively they remain extremely solid, having conceded only three times in the group phase, and not at all in home fixtures. Across 23 appearances for club and country this season, Poland striker Robert Lewandowski has scored a total of 26 goals. Eight of Poland’s previous nine wins overall have come with a clean sheet. They’ve enjoyed three home wins in qualification (GF 8, GA 0), scoring an even number of goals in each. Interestingly though, two of those games stood at 0-0 until the 74th minute.

Of Poland’s last ten internationals at home in which they’ve scored, they’ve scored in the 80th-minute and later seven times. Poland’s last five goals have come from five different goalscorers. Slovenia have not scored before the 53rd-minute for three games running. The visitors have scored in six of their previous eight away matches.

Slovenia can no longer finish in the top-two in Group G, despite getting a narrow 1-0 home win over the group’s bottom side Latvia. Nevertheless, they have already handed Poland their only loss in this qualification group, and are thus unbeaten across the last four H2H clashes. Slovenia’s top scorer in qualification is Josip Iličić, and he netted a brace in their only away victory in Latvia. A disappointing away record certainly hampered Slovenia’s quest to make Euro 2020, having beaten only Latvia on the road. The Slovenians have in fact won just five away matches since the end of 2013, though all of them came with a clean sheet.
