H2H: Leganes vs. Eibar – Prediction (La Liga

Preview and Teams Comparison.

Leganés’ last win against Eibar in all competitions was in January 2003 in Segunda Division, with that win coming away from home (0-1). Since then, they have not won any of their last nine matches against them in all competitions (W0 D3 L6).

Leganés’ 1-0 win over Mallorca, in their last La Liga (LL) home outing, saw them put an end to a nine-game winless run at Estadio Municipal de Butarque in the league (D3, L6). Significantly, seven of those games featured under 2.5 goals, and five of their six losses across that period saw them fail to score. Martin Braithwaite has netted Leganés’ opening goal in each of the three league games to see him score. A slow start could be due, with the ‘Legionarios’ failing to score a goal within the opening 30 minutes of any LL game this campaign. Unsurprisingly then, they currently hold the division’s joint-worst offensive record, after scoring a meagre average of 0.45 goals per game to date.

Leganés have conceded first in five of their six LL home fixtures, returning a poor record of: D1, L4 thereafter. Four of the last five top-flight H2Hs (all venues) have produced a goalless first half. Eibar can only boast a positive LL goal difference (+2) in one 15-minute interval this season – the 46th-60th minute period.

For their part, Eibar have struggled away from home in the top-flight, winning just two of their last 26 away fixtures (W2, D12, L12). Furthermore, the fact that they have failed to score in three of their last five away league fixtures will surely be of some concern to manager José Luis Mendilibar. Eibar’s Fabián Orellana has netted four goals so far this LL campaign, but he is yet to score inside the opening 30 minutes. This game could be a tight clash though, especially as just one of Eibar’s six LL road trips to date has been settled by a two-goal margin or greater. Encouragingly though, the ‘Armeros’ will be looking to build on their strong historical top-flight H2H record against Leganés (W4, D2).
