The big-serving Frenchman has won four matches so far in this campaign (as a qualifier), and he lost the first set in three of those matches — against Corentin Moutet in the final qualifying round and Sam Querrey in the first round. The win against world #4 Daniil Medvedev was the experienced Frenchman’s joint-biggest win of his career. He has previously registered three top 10 wins, and notably, all those three wins came against then-world #4 in Masters 1000 events — Andy Murray in Cincinnati 2012, Roger Federer in Rome 2014 and Grigor Dimitrov in Miami 2018. Apart from securing a massive win over Daniil Medvedev, Jeremy Chardy has also registered his best result in Paris Masters as all his previous nine appearances here ended either in the first or second round.

Christian Garin upset John Isner for the second time in two matches this year to secure his berth in the round of 16 in Paris Masters. John Isner fired over 20 aces and put in a strong serving performance, but the Chilean did just enough to snatch both the tiebreakers, 7-6 7-6. A couple of months ago in Montreal Masters as well, Christian Garin defeated John Isner in straight sets in the second round but failed against Daniil Medvedev in the following match (3-6 3-6 in R16). The Paris Masters debutant, Christian Garin has already achieved a lot of personal milestones this year such as winning a couple of titles in Munich and Houston and bagging his first main draw wins on hardcourt (IH and OH) and grass. Here is a chance for him to achieve yet another milestone as he has never made it to the quarterfinal of an ATP Masters 1000 event.
