Genoa vs. Brescia – Prediction (Serie A – 26.10.2019)

Genoa have lost only one of their nine Serie A home games against Brescia (1-2 in 1931) – seven wins for the Rossoblù and a draw. Since three points have been awarded for a win (since 1994/95), Genoa have won three of their four Serie A games against Brescia (D1), keeping a clean sheet in three of those matches.

In a season of gloom, home form has been Genoa’s saviour so far, with 80% of their current points tally (four of five) being acquired here. Ahead of kick-off, however, Genoa have picked up just one point in their last six Serie A (SA) games (D1, L5), conceding 16 goals during this sequence and shipping at least two goals on five occasions. Andrea Pinamonti has been Genoa’s first goal scorer with both of his SA goals this season. The main problem for Genoa this term has been their second-half performances. The newly promoted visitors have lost four of their last six SA games (W1, D1, L4), with the games won / lost in that group all coming via a single-goal margin. That has also been the case with each of their six SA games won/lost either way. Sandro Tonali helped Brescia gain or extend a lead with each of his two SA assists. Brescia’s SA away record is a mirror image of Genoa’s home form, with all goals conceded on the road (three) being shipped in the first half, and all of the away goals in their favour (three) arriving in the second half. On a curious note, three of Brescia’s four SA away games have finished ‘1-0’.
