Egor Gerasimov (Blr) vs. Andrey Rublev (Rus) – Result prediction (17.10.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

Andrey Rublev is the better all-round player of these two and starts as the favorite, but Egor Gerasimov holds a dominant 3-0 lead in the H2H series, and he would be quite confident ahead of this clash.

Andrey Rublev’s run of playing six consecutive straight-set matches came to an end in Moscow earlier this week as he was taken to three sets by the in-form Alexander Bublik in the first round. The Russian thoroughly dominated the first set (6-1), but he still had to recover from a break deficit in the deciding set, 6-1 3-6 6-4. With this run, world #31 Andrey Rublev ended his six-match losing streak in Moscow and opened his account in this tournament. All his previous six appearances here between 2013-2018 ended either in the qualifying stages or in the first round.

Andrey Rublev has made two main draw appearances on the main tour this year prior to this week, and he managed to reach the quarterfinal on both occasions — quarterfinalist in St.Petersburg last month and Marseille in February. The talented Russian struggled for fitness and confidence and even dropped out of top 100 for a brief period earlier this season but has managed to turn his season around in recent months and also attained his career-high ranking of #31 in the latest ATP World Rankings.

Egor Gerasimov continues his recent good run of form on the main tour with a comfortable straight-set win over Thomas Fabbinao in the first round of ATP Moscow, 6-3 6-4. It was the big-serving Belarusian’s third win of this campaign, and he dropped his serve at least once in all those three matches. The 26-year-old Egor Gerasimov has made only four quarterfinal appearances on the main tour so far in his career with two of those runs coming in his previous two campaigns in St.Petersburg (as a qualifier) and ATP Chengdu last month.
Making his main draw debut in ATP Moscow last year, Egor Gerasimov won four matches as a qualifier to reach the quarterfinal — defeated Benoit Paire in straight sets in the second round.
