Dayana Yastremska (Ukr) vs. Kirsten Flipkens (Bel) – Result prediction (16.10.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

Yastremska, who has now amassed 35 wins in the season, is expected to take down the veteran with a 9-2 season win-loss against outside top 100 players. It has been well more than two years since Flipkens registered five wins at the same tournament — reached 2017 New Haven quarterfinal as a qualifier.

Dayana Yastremska won the last four games to start her debut main draw campaign at Kremlin Cup and end defending champion Daria Kasatkina’s miserable season, 6-1, 6-4, in 80 minutes. Playing with a covered right knee, the fifth seed bossed around with 25 winners to the home favorite’s five. The Ukrainian seeks her second Premier-level quarterfinal after scoring the first one during the 6-4 Asian swing. She upset Karolina Pliskova for her maiden top 10 win en route to the last-eight of Wuhan. The only teenager left in the draw, Yastremska is 8-3 in round-of-16 matches on tour, 5-2 in 2019.

Kirsten Flipkens, making her debut at Moscow, erased a 3-0 start from 2017 semifinalist Natalia Vikhlyantseva to win 6-3, 6-2. It is her third win over a local player in this campaign. Earlier, the 33-year-old won all her three qualifying matches in straight sets, including beating L. Samsonova and A. Gasanova. Flipkens has reached four quarterfinals this season, most recently at Seoul. That’s as far as the Belgian has managed to go in a WTA tournament since the runner-up finish at 2018 ‘s-Hertogenbosch. She has lost ten out of her last eleven meetings with top 30 players; defeated Muguruza at Fed Cup in April.
