Preview and Teams Comparison.
Bournemouth tend to go all-in for victory with only eight of their previous 51 Premier League (PL) fixtures ending in a draw. That attitude has clearly helped them up front, as they have scored in 28 of their last 33 home league encounters. Goals should be expected then, especially considering six of Bournemouth’s eight league matches this season have produced over 2.5 goals. That includes three of their four home league games (W1, D2, L1), yet only four other PL clubs have conceded more than their 13 overall goals at this stage. Another concern will be that they’ve earned more points away than at home so far.
The only previous Premier League meetings between Bournemouth and Norwich came in the 2015-16 campaign, with the Cherries winning this exact fixture 3-0 in January 2016. Bournemouth and Norwich are the only Premier League sides yet to keep a clean sheet this season. Indeed, Norwich have conceded more goals than any other side (21). Norwich have lost their last two meetings with Bournemouth in all competitions, more than they had in their previous eight against them (W3 D4 L1). Since they were promoted to the Premier League in 2015, Bournemouth have had 90 games in which both teams have scored in the competition – only Leicester (93) and Arsenal (92) have had more in that time. Norwich have conceded at least twice in each of their last six Premier League games. They last conceded 2+ goals in seven consecutive league games in April 1985.
Norwich City have hit a rocky patch of form after registering six defeats from their last seven in all competitions (W1). They failed to score in four of those losses, all of which were away from home. Furthermore, conceding at least twice in their last five has contributed to Norwich possessing the PL’s worst defensive record (21 goals conceded). Entertaining to watch, five of the Canaries’ eight PL clashes have seen both teams score, and their average of 3.88 total goals per fixture is the division’s third highest. Norwich will be keen to strike first though as they have won both games this season when scoring the opener, whilst in contrast, they’ve lost all six when conceding first.
