H2H: Bordeaux vs. Nantes – Prediction (Ligue 1

Bordeaux have lost just one of their last nine Ligue 1 games against Nantes (W6 D2), a 1-0 defeat the last time the two sides met back in February 2019.

Bordeaux come into this encounter after two straight Ligue 1 (L1) home losses, and the fact that they have won just two of their previous 12 top-flight home fixtures (W2, D4, L6) will not inspire their fans. Significantly, each of their last four L1 losses at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique have come via a 1-0 scoreline. Nicolas de Préville’s (BOR) three L1 strikes this campaign have arrived in the opening ten minutes. Six of Bordeaux’s last seven L1 home fixtures have produced under 2.5 total goals. At all venues, five of the last six league H2Hs have featured only one side scoring. Nantes have conceded half of their six away league goals so far this season after the 75th minute.

For their part, Nantes have struggled away from home in the top-flight, winning just four of their last 18 L1 away fixtures (W4, D4, L10). This game could be a tight clash though, especially as 13 of the 14 games (win/loss) during that run have been settled by a single-goal margin. Furthermore, 69.23% of those 13 games featured a 1-0 scoreline either way. Nantes top league marksman Kalifa Coulibaly has scored the opener in each of the three L1 games he’s found the net. ‘Les Canaries’ can take confidence from the fact that they have scored the opening goal in six of their last eight L1 road trips, returning a balanced record (W3, D2, L3) across those eight games.
