H2H: Alavés vs Barcelona – Comparison.

Alavés Insights.

Deportivo Alavés’ 2-0 victory at Real Valladolid means six of their seven La Liga (LL) games have been won by the team that scored first. However five of those seven were level at HT, despite only marginally more match goals being scored in the second half (53.85%) than first. A 2-0 loss in their last home fixture means all four home games this term have featured under 2.5 goals, and nine straight here have seen either one or both sides fail to score. However, Alavés are unbeaten in two of the three LL home games in which they started as an outsider this term (W1, D1, L1), giving them hope of ending a six-game H2H home losing streak ‘to nil’ in all competitions.

Barcelona Insights.

It’s been a poor LL campaign for Barcelona who are winless in three league games (D1, L2) and failure to win here would herald their worst six-game start since 2005/06. However a 2-0 win at Juventus in midweek – in which they restricted Juventus to no shots on target – shows they have the quality to pull off results. That win also continued a trend that has seen Barcelona’s last five competitive away games feature just one side hit the net (W4, L1), and in fact, none of the ten H2Hs at Alavés have seen both teams score since the turn of the century (BAR: W7, D2, L1).
