H2H: Ajax v Heracles – Comparison.

Davy Klaassen scored twice and missed a penalty before HT in Ajax’s last home game, ahead of his first international call-up since 2017. Heracles’ main man Rai Vloet has been involved in nine of their ten league goals this term (seven goals, two assists). Ajax have won their last four league games by a 3+ goal margin, and have led at both HT/FT in eight of their last nine home league games.

Ajax appear primed to mount a title charge after seven wins from eight games – which represents a better or equal return at this stage of any Eredivisie campaign since an unbeaten eight-game start back in 2002/03. However, Heracles Almelo are something of a bogey side for Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, who has won just one of four league H2Hs against opposing coach Frank Wormuth (W1, D1, L2). The hosts have been pretty much perfect at home, leading at HT/FT in all home league games so far, whilst three victories saw a 3+ goal margin, and three saw Ajax win both halves. However, three of Ajax’s four conceded home league goals did arrive beyond HT.

However, Heracles have managed to score in their last five away games vs ‘Big Three’ opposition since a 1-0 defeat here in Amsterdam back in 2017/18 (D2, L3).
