Adrian Mannarino vs. Rafel Nadal – Prediction (ATP Paris – 30.10.2019)

Preview and players comparison.

Having already played a lot of matches on indoor hardcourts in recent weeks could help Adrian Mannarino to an extent, but Rafael Nadal should be able to negotiate the win here.

Rafael Nadal lost his position at the top of ATP World Rankings in the first week of November 2018, and he will return to the top in the first week of November 2019 as the Spaniard is guaranteed the #1 spot next Monday, regardless of what happens in Paris this week. However, world #2 Rafael Nadal’s objective is to finish the season as the year-end #1, and he can achieve that by winning the title in Paris Masters this week, something that he has never done so far in his hugely successful career.

“I prefer to be No. 1 to No. 2 and No. 2 to No. 3. Of course, finishing the year [as] World No. 1 is something special, and I would love to make that happen,” said Rafael Nadal.

Second seed Rafel Nadal has reached at least the quarterfinal of Paris Masters during all his previous six main draw appearances but never managed to win the title. His best result here was finishing as the runner-up to David Nalbandian back in 2007 (main draw debut). This will be Rafael Nadal’s first outing on the main tour since defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final of the US Open. He has played only six matches on indoor hardcourts in the last four years with the recent such match coming in the Laver Cup last month.

Adrian Mannarino scored a routine straight-set win over the Norwegian qualifier Casper Ruud to move to the second round of Paris Masters for the third consecutive season. All his previous four second-round matches here in Paris ended in defeat, and he will have to work really hard to avoid yet another defeat at this stage. Only four times the Frenchman has registered back-to-back main draw wins on the main tour this year, and he managed to reach the finals in three of those campaigns — champion in Hertogenbosch and runner-up in Zhuhai and Moscow (IH).
